Learning Content
This ILS course focuses on the assessment and treatment of the deteriorating patient. It enables the team to work together to ensure safe and appropriate treatment is given to a sick patient and to carryout CPR and defibrillation if required.
The practical course will be focused around your occupational area and aims to put theory into practice.
Course Requirements
You must complete all elements of the course to achieve certification. Individual tutoring is available for this course at an additional fee if required.
Course Aim
The course aim is to enable you to deal with and manage medical emergencies relating to your occupational area.
Course Objectives
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
Discuss the human factors whilst dealing with medical emergencies.
Carry out an initial assessment of an unconscious patient.
Use the ABCDE approach and SAMPLE to recognise life-threatening emergencies and take immediate action to prevent them from deteriorating.
Demonstrate the competent use of intermediate airway adjuncts.
Carry out effective ILS and safely use an AED on adults.
Undertake medical emergency scenario training related to your occupational area consolidate your learning.
Who can attend?
All mental healthcare professional who are required to undertake immediate life support prior to the arrival of advanced life support (ALS).
Course Duration
This course is delivered as a six-hour face-to-face session.
Development Outcomes
This CPD course meets the criteria for six hours CPD.
Quality Control
This course is Nationally Certificated through ITOL and provided by a RC(UK) Advanced life support instructor. Complete support material, assessment and course feedback is provided online.
